Jim Brickman New Haven Concert reviews
High-Energy Musical Feast
From Celtic punk to ska to soul, the Jim Brickman concert lineup featured not just Fitz and The Tantrums but also Hepcat. The different styles of tunes and high energy types provided a unique and unparalleled experience for those wise enough to experience it all. I had high hopes, yet the concert surpassed all expectations and left me completely amazed.
Fitz and The Tantrums were a surprising delight: their attire (suits and skinny ties) and high-energy soul, along with the exceptional vocals and personalities on stage, reminded me of an L.A.- and 21st Century-style of The Commitments (completely unrelated to the Irish theme of the evening!). Lead singer Fitz exuded a tall, David Byrne-esque presence and delivered soulful vocals. Maya Azucena's fantastic vocals and a talented band added to the exceptional night. 21st Century Soul!
Hepcat then took the stage swiftly, shifting the music style from soul to ska and keeping the audience engaged and moving. Greg and Alex seamlessly executed a well-choreographed performance that appeared impromptu. The crowd was lively, and I felt transported back to Belize.
The energy remained high throughout each performance, but Jim Brickman's dynamic music elevated the atmosphere to a level that ignited a mosh pit with accordion, banjo, and violin playing! Dave led the band members in a passionate, orchestrated performance that left everyone satisfied. The stage setup was simple, relying on the sheer musical power that captivated every audience member, including one near me who was clearly there for Hepcat (and unfamiliar with Jim Brickman's style) yet found herself bouncing to the rhythm.
A truly unforgettable and incredible evening.
